Frequently Asked Questions

Does my dog have to be up to date on his vaccinations before grooming?

Yes, you will need to provide a copy of your pets rabies vaccination, along with your veterinarians name and phone number. This is protection for your pet.

How often should I have my pet groomed?

On the average, dogs should be groomed every four to six weeks. Of course, this depends on the owner’s ability to do daily brush outs. It also depends on your pet’s breed, coat and how often your dog is outside. Since I only have one mobile trailer, you should try to “lock in” a recurring appointment to prevent being closed out when I am no longer able to accept new clients.

Does frequent bathing harm my pet’s coat?

No, veterinarians will encourage you to have your pet groomed on a regular basis. We use high quality, all natural shampoos and conditioners to help relieve dry, itchy skin.

I use a variety of shampoos such as medicated, tearless, soothing oatmeal, relaxing lavender, and Hypo”Aloe” Genic, just to name a few.

Where do you need to park your mobile grooming trailer?

It’s usually best to park along the curb, or on flat driveways. The trailer is too tall to fit under most covered parking spaces and the slope is important to be able to drain the tub properly.

How should I prepare my pet for grooming?

Please let them go potty before I arrive. Also, don’t feed them within an hour or so. If they take medicine for arthritis pain, you may want to give it to them an hour or so before their appointment.

Do you provide your own water and electricity?

My trailer is equipped with warm, fresh water and grey water tanks. I never re-circulate water (like many mobile dog washers do). Pawsitively Clean uses fresh water from start to finish!

 

I use shoreline power. This means I will need to have access to an outside outlet. I am equipped with all the cords necessary to do this.

How long does it take to groom my pet?

For most pets, it takes one to two hours depending on size, service type and condition of coat.  Large dogs, very hairy or slightly matted pets will take longer as well as those who take special care due to health problems or behavior.

My dog sheds all the time, any help for that?

Yes, regularly scheduled bath and brush appointments will minimize shedding. For severe shedding, I suggest adding our De-Shedding Treatment which reduces shedding by removing the loose undercoat without sacrificing the healthy top coat. I offer this type of service for an additional charge.

My dog is really matted, what can you do for him?

Pawsitively Clean offers a relaxing, pain-free grooming experience for your pets. De-matting a pet can be painful and ruins the coat. If the matting is severe, the safest alternative is to have your pet shaved at a full-service grooming salon, and start the coat over. Pawsitively Clean does not offer this type of service.

What type of products do you use on my pet?

In an attempt to give my clients the best service, I use only premium all natural shampoos and conditioners that are designed specifically for pets. However, I’m happy to use your pet shampoo if you prefer.

How do I know your arrival time?

We will book your appointment and request that you allow a 1 hour window.  While we would love to give you an exact time, we will not risk the safety or well-being of a pet by hastening a groom.  Nor will we put the groomer at risk by rushing to the next appointment.  We will do our best to maintain our schedule but if we are running behind or ahead of schedule, you will receive a courtesy call or text.

Do I have to be home for you to groom my pet?

For the first or second time, yes. When you and your pet feel comfortable with the groomer, we can make arrangements for grooming to be done without your presence.

What if I need to cancel?

No problem, as long as you notify us 24 hours in advance of your appointment (so that we can fill this time slot with another client’s pet). We understand that emergencies arise. Not a problem! Only repeat offenders will be charged a $25 cancellation fee.

Will I receive a reminder?

You will receive a reminder email and/or text 24 hours before your appointment.

What about No Shows?

If you are not home when we arrive for your schedule and confirmed appointment, you will be assessed a $30 fuel/no show fee.  Repeat offenders will be charged the full price of the groom.

What type of payments do you accept?

Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check, and credit card.

Is mobile grooming more expensive than brick and mortar grooming shops?

Mobile grooming is a luxury service and the cost is usually higher.  However, the benefits of mobile grooming far outweigh the additional cost….

  • Convenient service at your doorstep.
  • Your pet will not come in contact with other pets.
  • Your pet will always be seen by the same groomer.
  • Your pet will not be uncomfortable waiting to be groomed, which means less stress for your pet.
  • No time spent in a cage at the salon.
  • We use all natural products.
  • No travel time to and from groomer.
  • No wait time.

Do you schedule evening or emergency appointments?

I can schedule off-hour or emergency appointments if the situation requires it. There is an extra $50 charge for this accommodation.
